Position details:
- The MD will work closely with the Medical Director, Clinical Staff, and Nursing Staff to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, determine diagnosis plans, prescribe treatments, and manage mental health care regimens in collaboration with the designated physician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) w/license in Psychiatry.
- Current Washington State license with prescriptive authority, including DEA licensure as required by the State.
- BLS, Handle with Care, and Verbal De-Escalation certification, provided by INBH.
SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews admissions with the admitting physician and determines the appropriate level of care.
- Complete psychiatric assessments as required and reports within specified time lines.
- Correlates the significance of mental health history, physical assessment, and laboratory data to formulate a care (treatment) plan consistent with approved protocols.
- Write admission orders for admitting patients.
- Implements plan of care (treatment) with appropriate treatment team.
- Recognizes, and responds appropriately, to the psychosocial needs and behaviors of patients when developing a treatment plan.
- Assist in obtaining the appropriate patient documents and records.
- Chart entries should record the patient’s response to treatment, current mental status, progress in the program, and need for continued treatment if appropriate.
- Recognizes continuing care needs and makes appropriate referrals as necessary.
- Consults appropriately with physicians, clinical staff, and Therapists.
- Assist in determining what releases of information are required and process releases according to policy.
- Maintain assessment and referral statistics and other data as assigned, including P.A.T. log, pending admissions file, HMS statistics and reports.
- Provide medical consultation and admission approval for night shift admissions.
- Serve as on-site medical staff for units for medication ordering, medical consultation and evaluation after seclusion and or restraint episodes.
