Job Description
The Lactation Consultant provides safe, family centered patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating lactation plans for the mother-infant breastfeeding dyad within an inpatient and outpatient setting. The International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) collaborates with the mother, significant others, and interdisciplinary health care team while acting as a coach, consultant, teacher and lactation expert. Lactation Consultant will demonstrate specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding based on evidence-based practices. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the Lactation Consultant functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) and adhere to El Camino’s policies, procedures, and guidelines of care while meeting the feeding goals of the parents.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse with minimum five (5) years clinical experience
Minimum three (3) years working in maternal/child acute care setting preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
Demonstrates some experience in teaching in a clinical or community health care setting.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Current California RN License.
Current BLS Certification.
International Certified Lactation Consultant.
Salary Range:
$89.43 - $116.79 USD Hourly
