Examples of Work
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work operations managed and activities of 6 division employees to achieve work objectives and ensure consistent application of policies and standards.
- Is responsible for preparing and proposing options for resolving operation, administrative and management concerns and for enhancing internal effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provides excellent customer service to state agency users of the State Records Center and document conversion and microfilm services; markets services to other state and local agencies.
- Determines fiscal, staffing, material, and equipment needs and prepares/submits proposals for these resources to support financial and purchase requests.
- Leads communications among the various state agencies in matters related to records and information management.
- Assists agencies with RIM policies and provides program implementation guidance.
- Gives RIM training presentations to state and local agencies.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Library or Information Science, Business Administration or related field.
- 2 years of related experience in the record management field.
- 2 years of related supervisory or management experience.
- Experience with physical and electronic records and filing systems.
- Experience with document retention programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or coursework in Library or Information Science, Business Administration or related field.
- 4 years of related experience in the record management field.
Description
The Secretary of State’s Office is seeking a Director for their Records Management Division. The Secretary of State as State Records Administrator is responsible for establishing standards, procedures, and techniques for the effective management of public records. In addition to maintaining a state-wide records retention program, the division facilitates the storage of public records by providing a centralized State Records Center and document conversion and microfilm services.
The Secretary of State’s Office is looking for a leader that will support the operational services provided by the division as well as educate state and local agencies regarding Records Information Management (RIM) issues, assist with the formulation of RIM policies and guidelines, participate in the evaluation of RIM technologies, and other duties as assigned.
