Job DescriptionThe Corporate Strategy team drives major strategic initiatives for the company. The group works closely with R&D and Commercial groups to assess acquisition, partnering and venture capital investment opportunities as well as address strategic questions related to AbbVie’s geographic and therapeutic footprint, from a scientific and commercial point of view.
The Director, Corporate Strategy & Business Operations will be responsible for monitoring and assessing AbbVie’s external environment, assisting in the development of AbbVie’s long range plan, and driving various strategic analyses and initiatives. This is a highly visible position and could be a springboard to other leadership roles.
Responsibilities:- Promote strategic discussions on external trends, competitor strategies and potential disruptors, and translate these to strategic choices.
- Shape our corporate priorities; drive clarity and alignment on “where we play” (therapeutic areas, modalities, platform capabilities, etc.).
- Provide internal consulting support for high-priority strategic initiatives that will drive transformative change and position AbbVie for future success.
- Provide targeted support for AbbVie’s long-range strategic planning process, including working with leaders to shape their strategic agendas.
- Partner with and advise senior management on topics relevant to their own functional areas.
- Help communicate our strategy across AbbVie.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Medicine, Sciences, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a strategic consulting function, preferably with healthcare experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams; pull in business and leverage interdependencies to examine and enable business outcomes.
- Basic financial literacy, with strong quantitative and modeling skills and ability to distill complex information to intuitive graphs, tables and other visuals.
- Strong oral, facilitation, and written communication skills.
