Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer will play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy and operational excellence. Provide direct leadership of treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, and forecasting, while fostering a collaborative culture that embraces innovation and performance. The CFO will be responsible for optimizing management reporting and MRP/ERP systems, ensuring robust internal controls, and maintaining strong banking relationships. This position also involves partnering with cross-functional leaders to enhance budgeting processes and promote efficiency initiatives like lean, TQM, and Six Sigma.
Responsibilities:
- Manage treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, real estate, forecasting, insurance, and information systems.
- Build a culture that is collaborative yet independent, embraces evolution, and drives performance.
- Identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement and lead technology adoption.
- Develop management reporting analytics and optimize MRP/ERP systems.
- Oversee banking relationships, monitor liquidity, and maintain appropriate capital structure.
- Manage covenant compliance and optimize forecasting.
- Safeguard company assets with robust internal controls.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial audits and preparation of tax returns.
- Partner with cross-functional leads to improve the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Enable department leads to effectively manage their respective operational segments of the business.
- Analyze cost accounting and operational issues to enhance performance across multiple sites.
- Promote efficiency practices like lean, TQM, and Six Sigma.
- Assess domestic and international economic conditions impacting the organization.
- Administer the Employer Sponsored Retirement Plan and prepare long-range forecasts and support annual valuations with external appraisal firms.
- Collaborate with executives on growth opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions or new joint ventures.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent is required. MBA, CMA, or CPA preferred but not required.
- Minimum 7+ years related experience in food manufacturing, ideally with perishable food products.
- Background in FP&A at a privately held company with experience recommending process improvements after analyzing production data.
- Experience assessing the capital structure, financing, and capital allocations.
- Proven ability to build high-performing teams and elevate finance and IT functions.
- An intelligent yet self-deprecating individual who takes ownership of delivering results.
- A relationship-driven leader who is adept at forming connections with employees at all levels within the business as well as with suppliers and customers.
- Prior experience with advanced MRP/ERP systems is preferred. Dynamics 365 manufacturing a plus.
- Knowledge of audit and regulatory requirements to provide guidance to Corporate Controller.
