Group History & Description
NHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center that has provided basic health care to low-income and uninsured people at four clinic sites located in North and Northeast Minneapolis and in Coon Rapids, MN. We serve 8,000 people yearly making 20,000 visits. Our ~100 employees include 9 Medical Providers (MD, NP, PA, PharmD) and 5 Behavioral Health staff as well as some contracted psychiatric and RD staff. NHS offers a friendly, diverse work environment. With a $9M budget, we are financially stable and growing—with award-winning quality outcomes. NHS is a member of FUHN, one of the first safety net (FQHC) Accountable Care Organizations in the nation. We use Athena Health as our Patient Management System (EMR, patient registration and accounting). NHS has a robust community health/outreach program and provides many supplementary supports to our patients, including SUD/Suboxone services, insurance enrollment navigation, referrals to community-based, governmental and other supportive services to help meet the basic needs of our patients.
Clinic Hours
Our clinics are open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with extended hours until 7 or 8 pm once weekly at each site to be determined.
Geographic and Patient Community
North and Northeast Minneapolis are culturally diverse neighborhoods with a concentration of low-income and uninsured individuals. Roughly 60 percent of our patients are African-American, Latino and other minorities, including immigrants from Southeast Asia and east and west Africa. Our newest site in Coon Rapids has expanded from serving a pediatric population to serving individuals of all ages. We use language interpreters and offer a sliding fee scale for our uninsured patients to ensure access to health care services. This position will be based primarily in Northeast Minneapolis.
Provider Schedules
The work week is Monday – Friday, generally during daytime hours. Number of days worked varies. There is no inpatient practice. Office call is shared and limited in scope.
Salary and Benefits
Salary is competitive with other local community health centers and is negotiable depending upon qualifications. We offer a generous benefit package, including health, dental and vision, malpractice, disability and life insurance. We also offer FSA and 403-B retirement plans, a deferred compensation plan for providers, as well as supplemental life insurance. NHS provides some reimbursement for continuing education, professional fees and memberships and recertification. Paid time off (including vacation and personal time) begins at four weeks for a full-time staff (4-5 days).
