We are currently recruiting a Global Business Development Director to join our Programs team.
This is a hybrid position, based in Washington, DC.
Salary is circa $130,000 per annum plus benefits.

About the Opportunity:
We are looking for a Global Business Development Director who is a visionary leader, creative and entrepreneurial professional, consummate humanitarian voice, team builder, and kind contributor. You will lead the organization's business development efforts, driving RI's business development strategy and overseeing Program Development staff globally.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Develop RI's global institutional donor fundraising strategy.
- Execute this strategy at the global level with targeted support to the regional and country levels.
- Provide critical analysis and insight to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and RI Boards on business development trends, strategic donor relationships and opportunities, and critical challenges or opportunities.
- Instill a practice of strong program design in collaboration with other team leads.
- Build RI capacity and position RI to successfully prime for development proposals through donor engagement, consortia development, recruitment of key roles, innovative evidence-based technical and cost proposal designs.
- Engage with key institutional donors, as well as relationships with non-profit and for-profit partner organizations.
- Oversee the proposal development process of strategic opportunities for the organization.
- Lead on key funding opportunities, including lead writing strategic bids and coordinating/contributing to strategic bids led by other teams.
- Cultivate and manage a consultant pool of high caliber proposal writers.
- Support program development staff across RI operations.
You will lead on Value-Added Partnerships:
- Explore, lead, and facilitate value-added partnerships at global, regional, and country levels with the private sector, research institutions, and academia.
- Serve as RI's energizing spokesperson, articulating RI's sharpened positioning as a leader in the humanitarian and development sector.
About You:
You will bring the following experience and skills:
- High emotional intelligence and ability to represent, influence, and lead.
- Track record of leadership and achievement in a previous, similar role and progressive responsibility.
- Proven experience managing teams in challenging/complex contexts and INGO context.
- Successful lead proposal writing and partnership development track record.
- Successful team management and leadership skills with the ability to support teams working in highly complex security situations.
- Ability to analyze complex organizational challenges and present innovative solutions.
- Demonstrated proficiency to write clearly, insightfully and persuasively on tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- A passion and ability to work with field teams for sustained periods.
- Master's degree in international relations, business administration or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.
