The Role
Medallia is hiring a Finance Director to lead our Corporate Finance team reporting to the Vice President of Finance. The Corporate Finance team is a critical function, sitting at the center of the broader finance team to help the CFO, executive leadership, and investors gain financial visibility and insights into the business. This team sets the forecast parameters and processes for the finance team, and partners with other key operational teams on the moving pieces that impact our financial outlook. We are looking for a highly analytical leader who is strategic, approaches problems in a structured manner, and is comfortable operating in ambiguity. You will focus on the highest-priority business issues and be plugged into every facet of the business.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the operating plan and key financial processes, including budget planning, monthly forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Develop a business narrative for stakeholders to discuss results, identify risks and opportunities, and make decisions.
- Lead preparation of monthly board materials.
- Partner with G&A leadership to deliver financial planning and analytical support, identifying key business drivers and measurements to inform actionable results.
- Manage and drive our workforce strategy, in collaboration with the People and Community function including owning centralized workforce assumptions.
- Lead, manage, and scale a high-performing Corporate Finance team, responsible for Corporate and financial business partnerships.
- Develop new or improve existing financial planning and reporting processes, including setting the vision for our financial systems roadmap.
- Collaborate with team members across Finance & Accounting to ensure accurate, timely financial close and reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant finance experience (i.e. investment banking, private equity, and/or strategic finance, business operation or related fields).
- At least one year of people management experience.
- Demonstrated financial modeling and analysis experience including three statement model and long range planning.
- Demonstrated experience with headcount planning, workforce management planning, and accurate cost modeling.
- Demonstrated understanding of U.S. GAAP and finance principles.
- Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CPA.
- SaaS industry experience with a demonstrated understanding of SaaS business metrics and models.
- Led a Corporate Finance team.
- Previous business partnering experience supporting the G&A organization.
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Presentation of ideas and information in a concise, well-organized manner.
- Effectively work and collaborate within and across teams.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying business needs and proposing effective solutions.
- Strong executive presence and business acumen. Ability to work directly with senior business leaders.
- High-performance standards with high ethical values; passion for excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize appropriately, and demonstrate flexibility.
- Proficient business intelligence and analytics software (i.e., Tableau, Power Query, SQL, etc.).
- Familiar with Salesforce.com, NetSuite, and Anaplan.
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $147,000 - $239,000 USD. This position is bonus/commission eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, candidate's work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
