Job Highlights:
Human Rights Officer
- Ensuring that persons served are informed of their rights and given opportunities to receive education regarding their rights;
- Providing ways for persons served to have an opportunity to discuss and ask questions about their rights;
- Training all staff, during orientation, regarding the rights of persons served, as defined in these regulations;
- Assisting persons served to exercise their rights;
- Monitoring the implementation of human rights regulations throughout the organization;
- Fulfilling all HRO responsibilities specified in the Grievance Procedure.
This Opportunity:
The primary role of the Human Rights Officer is to coordinate with other departments to ensure that regulatory compliance is addressed throughout the organization. Ensure policies and procedures are updated for changing rules and laws. Prepare and provide training to ensure program staff understand and demonstrate required decorum and conduct work activities consistent with the policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Review industry trends and changes in laws and regulations to identify any impact on agency operations;
- Conduct regulatory due diligence for potential and new acquisitions and advise management;
- Establish procedures to track and respond to regulatory changes;
- Maintain plans for responding to government inspections, surveys, and audits to ensure compliance with regulations;
- Provide regulatory input for follow-up to inspections and audits to minimize potential for findings of noncompliance upon request;
- Maintain system for incident and complaint reporting;
- Ensure adverse events are reported to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders;
- Lead human rights committees, Human Rights Officer;
- Maintain trainings as required and requested;
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and assist in crisis situations;
- Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures;
- Complete all other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor;
- Driving and travel may be required.
