The Director of Market Strategy and Business Development will support the Chief Operating Officers in the strategy and growth of the Markets and each COO’s division.

Responsibilities:
Strategy and Business Development
- Participates in preparatory exercises necessary for system strategic planning and facilitates the strategic planning for their market(s).
- Working thought leader who is responsible for supporting Market Presidents on campus design, suite of services outside of the system service line leadership, CON support.
- Responsible for validation of market intelligence, new business opportunities, keeping strategies in alignment with system services.
- Responsible for building in-depth knowledge of market dynamics, market relationships, and JVs.
- Prepares necessary market hospital and market level analysis to support planning process.
- Influences the market and hospital components of the short- and long-range strategic plan for UnityPoint Health.
- Builds business plans in partnership with intelligence and finance function, as needed.
- Collaborates with key leaders to build and maintain a Market view of long-range facility planning and inform the system plan.
- Acts as a business partner for Market Presidents and Market Senior Teams on growth and business development initiatives across their market(s).
- Ensures growth and business development plans are systemically sound and not siloed.
- Proactively identifies and builds business cases for new or expanded growth opportunities in collaboration with COOs.
- Ensures collective vision and strategy across Market(s) are in alignment with the system and ensures their service to Market Presidents and Senior Teams is highly effective.
- Partners with Market Physician Liaisons to integrate business plans, enhance network utilization, and supports other key metrics that support strategic growth.
- Proactively identifies opportunities for cross-regional collaboration to drive efficiency, growth, and long-term sustainability.
- Leads market scanning, research, and investment recommendations.
- Regularly monitors annual plan performance metrics to support Market Presidents and Market Senior Teams.
- Has the potential to manage 1 other Program Director or Program Manager.
Regulatory, Industry, and Organizational Monitoring
- Maintain expert level knowledge of changing trends within the healthcare industry, specifically the hospital division.
- Maintain knowledge of legislation, payor shifts, and consumer behavior changes and how they impact the hospital division.
- Continuously monitor best practices and strategic moves made by disruptors or other reputable healthcare organizations.
- Leverage Strategy Intelligence function, when necessary.
- Lead team that conducts ongoing research in clinical, business, and regulatory trends and environments that impact or influence the hospital division and/or UnityPoint Health.
- Lead team to assist in the development and presentation of Certificate of Need materials to support or oppose new or expanding services within our markets.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business or related discipline required.
Master’s in healthcare administration, Master’s in business administration, or other healthcare related degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in healthcare.
10 years’ experience in healthcare; 1+ years’ experience leading hospital strategy; 1+ years of hospital/healthcare growth and transaction experience.
