About the Company: Children’s House Montessori School is a school for ages 15 months – Kindergarten with a focus on child-led learning. Our school is a vibrant community that has served the Brandywine Valley for almost 50 years. Longtime educators and enthusiastic newcomers make up a close-knit staff who help children learn through a Montessori education. We are seeking a special Montessorian and leader to serve as our new Head of School. Our nonprofit 501c3 organization is run by an Executive Board and provides comprehensive benefits and a competitive salary.
About the Position: Acts as the chief operating officer appointed by the Executive Director, with the approval of the Board to administer the day-to-day implementation of the school's mission and operating policy.
Requirements:
- Responsible for serving as an educational director and providing day-to-day educational leadership.
- Understands and communicates the School's progressive, humanistic Montessori philosophy, goals and philosophy as established by the Executive Board.
- Develops tactical plans for the school with the faculty and staff.
- Participates in strategic planning with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
- Measures and maintains good performance and professional growth among immediate subordinates and, through them, all professional employees.
- Works with the staff to identify curriculum needs in terms of teaching materials, faculty, and program support.
- Creates and maintains an aesthetically attractive environment that will identify safety needs and keep the facility in good repair.
- Works to produce smooth day-to-day internal operations through effective communication of shared school goals.
- Assures that the school is compliant with State of Delaware Office of Childcare Licensing rules and regulations and remains aware of all curriculum standards, records, rules and regulations, and reports that the OCCL requires.
- Recommends enrollment objectives to predict success at the School with the Executive Director, Board and faculty to establish and administer standards and procedures for admission and dismissals.
- Understands and stays up-to-date on trends and research in education, particularly those affecting Early Childhood Education.
- Acts as an advocate for Montessori education and the face of Children’s House Montessori School in our immediate and external community.
- Defines the teaching and non-teaching professional faculty positions needed to implement the School's program and recruits and hires highly effective teachers and staff.
- Encourages meaningful relationships with all stakeholders to aid and support the goals of the school.
- Works with the faculty and administrative staff to set standards of participation and achievement in all areas.
- Oversees the evaluation of student progress and systems for communicating with parents while keeping informed of student progress and intervening when concerns are identified.
- Responsible for supervising all faculty and support staff.
