About the Team
Document Storage Service provides secure, resilient, and highly scalable persistence with simple, easy-to-use APIs. We build, expand, and extend outstanding database, key-value, and object storage applications to store and orchestrate documents in a multi-tenant cloud environment.
About the Role
As a Principal Software Engineer in the Document Storage - Persistence layer, you will lead the development team that builds, maintains, and rapidly grows the current Erlang / RIAK application and new persistence layer applications. We are considering fully remote candidates.
You are an engineer passionate about developing distributed applications in a multi-tenanted private cloud environment. You take pride in developing distributed systems techniques to coordinate application services, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery of applications. You think about valuable abstractions and modules as well as programmatic interfaces to enable customer success. You can make all of this happen using JVM, OTP, and related distributed computing technologies.
About You
Basic Qualifications
7 years of experience designing and building large scale distributed systems using open source technologies
7 years of experience coding in Erlang, Scala, Elixir, or other similar languages.
Other Qualifications:
Deep understanding of Linux networking and storage layers.
Experience leading teams of engineers building highly resilient distributed databases.
Expert in RIAK noSQL database.
Experience and understanding of the internals of at least one distributed system such as Hadoop, Spark, HBase, Cassandra, Kafka, etc.
Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. This role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need.

Primary Location Base Pay Range: $179,800 USD - $269,700 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $179,800 USD - $323,400 USD
