Duties:
L3Harris is seeking Instructor Pilot (IP) candidates who meet our high standards of aviator skills, safety, and professionalism. IP is responsible for the organization’s flight training program in support of the USAF and other programs as required. They provide training and guidance to all students and continuation training to existing aircrew. Prospective candidates will have demonstrated skills in balancing administrative, tactical, and technical aspects of the position across all aircraft platforms. IP candidates will be dedicated to continuous improvement and must have the ability to motivate and effectively deliver instruction to USAF transition and undergraduate pilots as well as weapons systems officers. Duties will be evenly distributed between flight operation management, flight instruction, and classroom academic instruction. The IP position may also be contract Evaluator’s for the purposes of DCMA 8210.1D compliance. Work schedule flexibility and extended hours may be required. IP may be assigned other duties as directed.
General Requirements:
- 21 years of age

- Valid State Drivers License
- Read, write, speak and understand English
FAA Requirements:
- FAA Commercial Single Engine Land with Instrument Airplane
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument Certificate (Single Engine Land) or military equivalent (Current)
Flight Time Requirements:
- Minimum of 2,000 hours of total documented flight time
- Minimum of 1,000 hours of total Pilot in Command time
- Minimum of 300 hours of fixed wing time
When evaluating the flight time of applicants meeting the basic qualifications, consideration will be given to, among other things, quality, quantity, recent experience, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; and hours flown as PIC in turbine powered aircraft. Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours.
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Experience as a Department of Defense Flight Instructor/Evaluator
- Air to Ground ordnance delivery and/or Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) flight experience or, AT-802F aerial tanker experience may be considered for this requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Tailwheel Endorsement
- Air Tractor AT-802 Type Rating Exemption
- Air Tractor AT-802 Factory Authorized IP certification
- FAA NVG Instructor Endorsement
Other:
- FAA Second Class Medical certificate will be required prior to any offer of employment being issued.
- Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
*Special consideration may be given to military trained aviators with less than the minimum number of hours.
