About the Job
The Director, Building Codes & Standards spearheads efforts to ensure strategic support to AGA and its members for codes, standards, regulations, and legislation that support the use of natural gas for residential and commercial needs. This role is crucial for advocating and advancing building codes and standards that support the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible use of natural gas in end-use applications and markets.
What you will do:
- Stay abreast of industry developments and implications to help identify short-term and long-term strategies that will meet membership building energy codes and standards priorities.
- Lead advocacy at model code organizations and appropriate standards bodies for the adoption of AGA’s positions.
- Develop and maintain a priority list of codes & standards issues to AGA member companies.
- Oversee the development of a consensus position among AGA members on high-priority codes & standards issues.
- Underscore the indispensable role of natural gas in meeting today's energy demands while laying the groundwork for a sustainable and resilient energy future.

What you will bring:
- Demonstrated policy insight and a deep technical understanding of natural gas applications and energy-efficient technologies.
- Experience and proven performance in developing and gaining adoption of codes and standards provisions and regulatory and legislative requirements that enhance the use of natural gas in commercial businesses and residences.
- Undergraduate degree as a minimum in engineering, comparable technical degree, or equivalent experience.
How we operate:
This role is based in Washington, DC where AGA employees currently have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely.
The Pay and Benefits:
For employees who live in the Washington, DC Metro area, the salary range for this position is $118,862 to $160,814 annually. Typically, new hires are brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted salary for the role.
