As the Vice President of Strategic Sourcing, Procurement & Quality, you will lead the procurement department to ensure top-tier execution of strategic and transactional processes. Your role will involve centralizing spending across various functions, driving sustainable reductions in total cost of ownership, and enhancing quality, competitiveness, and service levels. Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, this hybrid position is based in Providence, Rhode Island, with three days required in the office each week, excluding travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy for both direct and indirect categories. This includes supplier and commodity segmentation, establishing a best-in-class organization, and creating policies, procedures, and analytics that align with brand R&D efforts to deliver high-quality products.
- Procurement Strategy: Craft and implement procurement strategies that align with company goals. Manage procurement budgets, reduce order quantities (MOQs), minimize lead times, and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
- Supplier Management: Oversee supplier selection, including identifying new suppliers and managing existing relationships. Handle contract management and cultivate strong partnerships with key suppliers.
- Market Insight: Stay updated on market trends, macro-economic factors, and procurement innovations to drive efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a global team of procurement professionals. Provide mentorship and guidance to meet short-term and long-term departmental goals, aligning teams in Asia to support global objectives.
- Procurement Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategic procurement processes to enhance quality and service while reducing the total cost of ownership.
- Cost Management: Analyze cost trends and inflation impacts to collaborate with Business Units and Finance on new pricing strategies for customers.
- Procurement Center of Excellence (COE): Manage the implementation of the COE, including master data configuration, processes, and tools to ensure alignment across relevant partners.
- Data Analytics & Technology: Utilize data analytics and technology to improve sourcing strategies and supplier relationships. Implement scorecards to track supplier performance, including accountability, on-time delivery, and quality metrics.
- Process & Technology Deployment: Design and deploy cutting-edge procurement processes and technology solutions to deliver measurable value across the enterprise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and procurement certification preferred.
- 10+ years of direct sourcing experience.
- 5+ years of indirect sourcing experience, covering categories such as professional services, MRO, travel, packaging, transportation, and facilities.
- Extensive experience in global strategic sourcing with a focus on Apparel and Fabrics, Consumer Electronics, and Plastics, particularly in Asia and Latin America. Knowledge of the textile value chain and best practices in a seasonal environment is essential.
- Proven track record in establishing and leading global procurement organizations, achieving year-over-year cost reductions exceeding 5%.
- Ability to create and leverage horizontal and vertical sourcing synergies across design, quality, cost, and supply continuity.
- Expertise in designing optimal terms and conditions for various commodities, leading negotiations, and implementing risk management strategies and digital procurement solutions.
- Experience with ERP system consolidation and transformative procurement processes and technologies.
- Strong financial acumen and leadership capabilities.
- Proficiency in commodity index tracking and digital sourcing technologies.
- Experience in setting up sourcing organizations in Asia and managing a dispersed quality organization of 30+ members.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and dock-to-stock programs is preferred.
- Cost engineering experience is a plus.
