Senior Director, Software Engineering (Remote Eligible)

Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and build an extremely talented software engineering team to deliver a game-changing core banking platform that powers multiple lines of business within the Bank. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry’s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering new consumer-facing software products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for creating market-leading software for millions of customers.

You will:
- Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers in building our core banking platform.
- Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open source products across all platforms.
- Work to modernize our existing tech stacks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning.
- Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new applications.
- Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across mobile and web full-stack development tools and technologies.
- Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
- Create proof of concepts and see through projects through production.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- At least 9 years of experience in software development.
- At least 7 years of experience in developing web applications and architectural standards.
- At least 7 years of experience in people management.
- At least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or a Master's Degree in Software Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services.
- 3+ years of experience with Core Banking platforms or related services and technologies.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location:
- New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $321,500 - $366,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
- Remote (Regardless of Location): $272,400 - $310,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
