Director, Sales Excellence & Learning, Immunology

Overview:
The Director of Sales Excellence & Learning (SEaL) is responsible for leading the overall strategy, design and execution for US Commercial Training for the field and account teams across Galderma’s four Business Units. This position will be responsible for developing and overseeing top-notch training programs that prepare the team on clinical mastery, customer mastery, and business mastery. The Director will oversee a team responsible for all content development for new hire training, sales meetings, as well as continuous learning of the field teams. The Director will partner in close collaboration with the Galderma marketing and sales leadership teams on all program development and execution strategies. This position must ensure that the sales trainers are prepared and executing at the highest level and will be responsible for communicating training progress with leadership and identifying potential development areas. This position also includes hiring and developing a team to execute and pull through training for product launches and marketing strategies to support the Commercial Organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement first-in-class commercial training programs across Galderma’s US Business. Ensure the maximum effectiveness of the sales force, maintain tight agendas, regularly report on assessments, identify potential issues/objections, and create content.
- Establish and implement procedures and guidelines for assessing the quality of trainers and programs and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Evaluate new technologies to ensure we are providing the best possible training experiences to in-field teams, incorporating various instructional methods to address the variety of adult learning styles and meet the specific & evolving needs of our sales organization.
- Lead without authority by effectively and proactively coordinating and collaborating with functions (marketing, market access and patient services, compliance, legal, insights and sales analytics, operations, medical affairs, and human resources) to understand the specific business needs, prioritize training resources, and align on desired outcomes to meet business goals and objectives to maximize sales efficiencies.
- Lead the successful development & execution of training programs, ensuring they are developed in collaboration with key stakeholders and delivered effectively on time and within budget.
- Lead culture & engagement through strong leadership skills with a player coach mentality. Use hands-on experience as an individual contributor to lead and develop teams; Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within Galderma.
- Hire a diverse team focused on sales training, market access, specialty pharmacy and patient services aligned to the business priorities with the ability to be agile with the evolving business needs.
- Manage Sales Excellence & Learning budget.
- Establish and prioritize the required desired state and the future technical competencies as needed.
- Deliver standardized training tools, curricula, and operational solutions for implementation across the U.S., ensuring alignment across the BU and Global teams.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field, required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience within a corporate environment is required, direct pharmaceutical manufacturer experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams or cross-functional teams of non-direct reports.
- Strong understanding of complex specialty markets (e.g. immunology) with the ability to simply complex content to ensure key messages are effectively delivered to customer stakeholders. Dermatology experience is preferred.
- Possesses a myriad of business knowledge and acumen; quick learner and ability to assess situations.
- Ability to demonstrate effective, persuasive business communications (verbal/written) and leadership.
- Ability to multi-task, shifting focus as business priorities change.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with team members, subject matter experts, other departments, and senior company leadership.
- Strong organizational skills; Capable of managing prominent levels of detail and handling multiple activities/tasks under pressure.
- Strong ability to drive cross functional integration team outcomes within a highly ambiguous environment.
- Ability to work with all levels in the organization, driving solutions and recommendations for action plans.
- Ability to work and make decisions independently as well as be a team player, and team leader, and be willing to support other team members on a proactive basis in any capacity needed.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
