Summary
Develops and administers processes and procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits to support the overall strategic direction of the company. Ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines. Includes indirect responsibility for sales and marketing, customer service, manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, continuous improvement, estimating, cost accounting, and production functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leads the development and formulation of long and short-range strategic plans, policies, programs, operating procedures, and objectives.
- Maintains close surveillance over company operations through review of reports, staff meetings, observation, and personal contact to assure coordination and integration of work flow, timely production, budgetary conformance, schedules, utilization of personnel, skills, machines, equipment, and facilities.
- Oversees major projects, e.g. expansions of facilities, installation of capital equipment, major repairs and overhauls, plant layout changes, etc., to the best economic advantage for the Company.
- Works closely with the President to monitor financial results and gain input for making sound financial decisions. Assists in preparing and monitoring annual budgets and in developing improved cost control tools. Attains and maintains thorough knowledge of costs in sales and production.
- Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and develops a system to ensure quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems by facilitating and supporting team efforts to identify problems and implement corrective actions. Recognizes team achievements and celebrates successes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, industrial management or related area; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years’ experience in production management, preferably in plant operations, estimating, continuous improvement initiatives, and/or sales and marketing.
- Previous work experience in the metal fabrication industry.
- Three to five years’ experience working in a metal fabrication environment, preferred.
- Epicor / Kinetic, ERP experience, preferred.
- Previous experience leading and directing the work of others.
