Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer/Analyst with demonstrated experience in working in modern software development methodologies and understanding DoD software development policies, issues, and priorities. This position will support the Under Secretary of Defense (Research and Engineering) and focus on bringing modern engineering processes and best practices to DoD programs and policies, all to improve outcomes for the warfighter.
As a Senior Software Engineer/Analyst, You Will:
- Work to formulate, integrate, demonstrate, and evaluate developmental software engineering concepts recognizing key DoD requirements, challenges, and priorities.
- Be a thought-leader impacting DoD software engineering and cybersecurity policy.
- Work collaboratively with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals from diverse technical areas.
A week in the life of a Senior Software Engineer/Analyst:
- Assist DoD to establish, maintain, and propagate state-of-art software engineering (particularly test and evaluation) practices.
- Support development of advanced data analytics and applications in support of government analysis of acquisition programs.
- Monitor, review and assess the software developmental test planning activities of major and select defense acquisition programs.
- Provide software engineering and development technical expertise to drive R&E program engagement across the warfare spectrum (C4ISR, missiles, air systems, land systems, naval systems, space systems, and cyber).
- Develop new software engineering approaches to address emerging Systems Engineering competencies in complex systems, large scale software, and trusted and secured systems.
- Identify tools and practices to support architecture level assessment of emerging capabilities in system-of-systems initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a methodology, processes, and metrics to assess systems integration risk that will be used to support technical reviews and milestone decision points.
- Develop and prepare presentations for meetings and conferences with the Services, Industry and Academia.
- Develop policy positions and technical advice to improve the transition of software elements to users and improve program outcomes.
- Display experience in modeling, design techniques, predictions, reliability growth management, requirements generation, software, and specification inputs.
- Lead organizational efforts to conduct analysis and understand trends impacting software intensive programs within DoD.
Job Requirements:
- 15 years of experience in software engineering.
- BS degree in Software Engineering or related STEM fields.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance, Ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- Experience with Cross-Domain Solutions.
- Excellent writing, communication, and briefing skills.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
