Department Information
Housing and Residence Life is passionate about the Georgia Tech residential student experience. With 97% of all first-year students choosing to live on campus, we create spaces and opportunities for Yellow Jackets to grow and connect from their first day of college through their graduate studies. Our department is a large and complex organization supporting over 8,700 on-campus residents among 49 traditional halls, suites, and apartments, some of which were constructed for the 1996 Summer Olympics. Our team of 200+ professional staff and 300+ student staff from six departments support residents directly and indirectly with their unique talents. We are housed within the Student Engagement and Well-Being division, that includes many student service offices.
Job Summary
This role plans, coordinates, and oversees Week of Welcome (WOW), a large-scale, multi-event program that sets the tone for the entire academic year and plays a critical role in fostering community engagement and student involvement. The programming involves collaboration with multiple departments across campus to ensure a cohesive and impactful experience for students. The role also provides direction and support for the activation of first-year wellness experiences and signature events, focusing on ongoing well-being programming throughout the year. Additionally, the position oversees the administration of engagement programs and operational initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders across campus to ensure the successful implementation of these efforts. Working closely with communications teams, the role helps develop comprehensive strategies across multiple platforms to promote events effectively. Benchmarks are created, and data is tracked and analyzed to ensure programming outcomes align with institutional goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop Week of Welcome programming to effectively engage new students with each other, their new campus home, and the city of Atlanta.
- Serve as chair of Week of Welcome planning committee, collaborating with other campus partners to effectively plan and execute events.
- Coordinate the overall schedule and plan for Week of Welcome including space management, relocation of services, and strategic scheduling of large-scale programs and events.
- Work with space reservations and appropriate campus staff to ensure that events have necessary approvals and are held in appropriate spaces.
- Effectively execute First-Year Wellness Initiative plan for residential and non-residential students; creating inaugural kick-off programming to coincide with Week of Welcome and overseeing the signature monthly events that highlight featured dimension.
- Provide ongoing program management support throughout the academic year working closely with all stakeholders on development, implementation, and assessment/ reporting.
- Effectively communicate, in collaboration with SEWB Communications Team, all engagement programming to campus, new students, families, and other stakeholders. Build, manage, and update the Guidebook schedule, advertisements, and informative content. Identify new technologies for engagement communication and tracking.
- Manage Week of Welcome email inbox with questions from incoming students, families, event planners, corporate partners, and campus partners.
- Collaborate with Office of Development to seek sponsorships for Week of Welcome and First-Year Wellness programming.
- Collaborate with unit, cabinet and divisional financial teams to develop and adhere to budgets.
- Assess engagement programming effectiveness in building community and helping students feel more connected to Georgia Tech.
- Manage overall budget for this initiative.
Work Format
Flexible working hours will be required, including weekends and evenings, especially during peak operational periods like the summer. A hybrid/ flexible working arrangement will be discussed with your supervisor.
Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this position is $83,700- 113,800 per year, commensurate on experience.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Academic Affairs, Business Management, Education or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
Eight to ten or more years of job of related experience.

Master's Degree.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
This position requires knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and specialized reporting software (reports.gatech.edu), familiarity with Banner and T-square, and some graphic design ability in Photoshop or PowerPoint.
SKILLS
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
