Senior Post-Award Grants and Contracts Specialist in the Department of Otolaryngology will provide post-award grants management services to the department. This position will assist faculty, staff, residents, and students with project initiation; revise and implement project budgets; provide monthly reconciliations/reports to Principal Investigators (PIs) for all projects; control and oversee fiscal management of grants and contracts; oversee personnel project appointments and advise faculty with effort certification; review and monitor post-award activities and expenditures on grants. This position advises PIs and provides information about how to access the PI Portal, necessary forms, access to cost share funds, etc.; provides expertise and guidance to PIs on the research effort compliance within the terms and conditions of the sponsored agreement; oversees the management of the project funds within the approved budget; provides necessary information for timely completion of annual reports required by sponsors; completes OGC-005s as necessary for project extensions and preliminary project creation; monitors invoicing by subsites and payments from sponsors to ensure projects are receiving payments as outlined in sponsored research agreements. This position coordinates with the Graduate School and Human Resources each semester to confirm GRAs are correctly appointed to sponsored projects.
Collaboration: Grants and Contracts Specialist-Senior collaborates closely with Department Clinical Research Manager ensuring that all department and college policies pertaining to grant related funds are followed; establishes controls to maintain project budget limitations, especially in monitoring and managing personnel expenditures; meets with PIs, faculty, and research staff often; continually works with PIs to pro-actively monitor and determine grant personnel funding distributions, then provides the necessary information in a timely manner to the department Fiscal Manager for processing prior to the various payroll deadlines.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Level Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of University, Office of Research and Office of Sponsored Programs policies, rules, and regulations is strongly desired; online financial and human resources experience/training is desired; proficiency with computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel is desired.
