JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Physician will be responsible for administering care to endocrinology patients. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients, as well as screening for chronic diseases. The physician will supervise mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants) involved in the care of adult patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Keep regularly scheduled hours as agreed upon in the Service Agreement and actively see patients in the Clinic.
- Work with medical schools and residency training programs in their participation in Clinic activities.
- Develop methods for assessing the quality of services provided by clinical services, with a particular emphasis on medical care.
- Be available during regular Clinic hours and after hours should assistance be required.
- Assist in the review and development of patient educational material before release to patients.
- Supervise health care students of any discipline assigned to the Clinic for educational purposes.
- Participate in planning for future clinical operations, with emphasis on interdisciplinary team-oriented care.
- Develop and maintain a program for clinical quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain clinical diagnostic and treatment protocols.
- Participate in the recruitment and retention of providers and other clinical staff.
- Participate in research.
- Attend regularly scheduled service line meetings.
- Provide supervision of mid-level providers and mentor students.
- Provide knowledge, basic techniques, and patient recruitment for research projects when available.
- Assist in performing data analyses, interpretation, and publishing of any research projects.
- Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Training Requirements:
- Board certified/eligible in Endocrinology.
- Medical Doctor with current licensure.
- Provider shall obtain, maintain, and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, and other federal and state reimbursement programs, as well as the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit programs requested by Legacy.
- BLS (CPR & AED) Certified.
- Ability to meet Legacy Community Health’s EPIC proficiency requirements.
Work Experience Requirement:
- Previous experience in a community healthcare setting.
- Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience (including fellowship training).
