The Role
Pilot is building a first-of-its-kind, hybrid software/service solution to tackle the financial back office (bookkeeping, tax, CFO, etc.) so that founders and business owners can focus on building and running their businesses. We already work with 1700+ customers in the tech startup and SMB sectors, and we are expanding rapidly.
We are looking to hire our first finance hire who will work closely with the VP of Finance on a range of finance and strategy efforts. You will partner directly with key business leaders to drive company-wide planning, forecasting, and reporting processes for our organization. You will collaborate cross-functionally to manage and own our overall budget and monthly forecasts, report on budget vs. actuals, and provide key inputs and insights to inform decision making. You will also manage various strategic finance projects based on the company’s key growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the company's budget and forecast model, aligning it with overall business objectives.
- Ensure cross functional alignment on key financial plans and company financial strategy.
- Oversee all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Serve as a trusted sounding board to the executive team, offering insights and guidance on critical business decisions.
- Lead long-term strategic planning processes, including scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses.
- Drive the evolution of the company's KPI metrics and implement best practices in tracking them.
- Spearhead strategic finance projects and support investor relations reporting activities.
- Provide strategic finance recommendations to department heads on capital allocation, pricing strategies, and growth initiatives.
- Continuously improve Pilot’s internal corporate finance systems and processes, and controls to scale with the company's growth.
- Research market trends and competitive dynamics to inform business strategies.

About You
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with a mix of FP&A and strategic finance exposure.
- Strong proficiency in advanced accounting and corporate finance principles.
- Deep understanding of SaaS and Professional Services business models, metrics, and value drivers.
- Expert financial modeling skills with a rigorous attention for detail when reviewing models.
- Experience scaling finance planning processes and reporting in high-growth environments.
- Possess a strategic mindset with the ability to balance short-term results and long-term value creation.
- Proven ability to be a self-starter capable of defining and driving outcomes without significant supervision.
- Excellent at articulating financial insights and influencing strategic finance decisions at the leadership level.
- Experience in Quickbooks, Looker, and Salesforce is a plus.
- This position is only available for remote employment in the United States in the following states: CA, GA, NY, NC, TN, TX, and WA.

The base pay range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $168,800 - $286,000 in most remote locations, and between $211,000 - $286,000 in San Francisco, CA and New York City, NY. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors such as candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, total compensation, and market data. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular positions are eligible for equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits; some of these benefits may be available for part-time or temporary positions.
