Consulting Associate, Engineer (Entry Level)
ERM is seeking a motivated entry-level Civil Engineer with a focus on site civil and remedial design and construction for our Washington, DC office. In this role, you will work closely with other Engineers and Project Managers on the planning, design, permitting and implementation of diverse and complex engineering assignments. You will be involved in supporting multi-discipline teams working in the renewable energy, power, technology and manufacturing sectors. You will develop construction drawings, technical specifications, calculations, permit applications and contract documents for renewable energy installations, electric transmission and distribution facilities, site remediation and other site civil projects. An appreciation of project controls and management support for significant consulting and construction projects, including scheduling, labor resourcing, and cost estimating will be a component of this position. Diverse and broad-based experiences, both in office and field settings, should be anticipated.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in projects on a global platform, in varying settings that demand new and creative solutions.
- Prepare site civil designs, including earthwork and site grading, access roads, erosion and sediment control and stormwater management.
- Prepare application packages for land disturbance permits, construction stormwater permits and related construction permits. Support preparation of land use permit applications.
- Interact with scientists in the site investigation, risk management, and planning disciplines as integrated teams as well as engineers in design and construction.
- Work cohesively within project teams worldwide as well as independently to achieve rapid advancement in a goal-oriented firm and group.
- Participate in a “center-of-excellence” engineering team to formulate creative designs and oversee implementation.
- Develop engineering designs and work effectively with AutoCAD and GIS software.
- Conduct field investigations, construction oversight and quality assurance activities and provide field exploration support as needed for design parameter development, and during construction for oversight and construction quality assurance purposes.
- Evaluate field data; perform calculations; prepare engineering reports, designs, cost estimates, and comprehensive schedules; and develop progress tracking reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. / M.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred, with a focus on designs involving environmental, geotechnical, site civil and structural applications.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification in-place or eligible.
- Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Relevant experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and GIS.
- Familiarization and experience with Microsoft Project resourcing and scheduling and construction management skill sets a plus.
- Excellent verbal, writing, and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Local candidates preferred, Washington D.C.
For the Consulting Associate, Engineer position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $62,000 – $72,422 USD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
