Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications will support the development, implementation, and tracking of marketing and communication campaigns that serve to enhance student recruitment efforts to increase enrollment and retention rates, especially among key populations and in key programs.
The incumbent will employ strategies to optimize the college's channels including website, social media, digital communications, posters, strategic email, intranet and internal newsletter platform.
This position is also the college's lead Public Information Officer.
As an Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications, it is expected that the following qualities will be demonstrated daily: a high degree of understanding and empathy for all students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the ability to encourage the inclusion of all voices in decision-making, promoting equity in all areas, and actively working against institutionalized norms of oppression against historically marginalized people.

Initial Salary: $80,255.20 annually, inclusive of 5% King County Premium Pay (KCPP)
Supervising Position: Executive Director of Marketing & Communications
Essential Duties
Communication:
- Represent Cascadia at state Public Information Commission meetings.
- Write and issue media releases.
- Administer the college's internal newsletter platform.
- Assist with public website and intranet.
Marketing:
- Work with team to design, develop, implement, and manage seasonal campaigns.
- Manage ad buys and track campaign ROIs.
- Use platforms like Canva to create posters and brochures.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Collaborate with Cascadia and UW Bothell's crisis communications team to update, disseminate, and drill the college's crisis communication plan.
- Serve as Lead PIO for college.
- Attend regular FEMA trainings.
Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Communication, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and team skills.
- Experience developing written and visual content.
- Minimum 3 years in communication, public relations or marketing.
- Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in relevant field of study OR interest in pursuing a Masters degree in a related field.
- Experience working in K-12 or higher education environment.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to successfully communicate (written and orally) in a language in addition to English, Spanish preferred.
Physical Work Environment
Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time employees are expected to be on-campus at least three (3) days per week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of their working days. Employees will need to provide their own remote workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. During on-campus operations, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.
Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.
This position involves exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
