About the Role
The position within the Performance, Resiliency and Scalability group, is ideally suited to diverse candidates from a performance engineering or development background with a deep focus on performance and resiliency engineering.
The team has a broad charter that spans from the debugging and recreation of specific customer issues, to using the latest Big Data/Machine Learning techniques in order to extract actionable data and model future capacity and scalability needs.
Workday Performance, Resiliency and Scalability Engineers are highly skilled and rigorous engineers who debug, measure, support, and improve our software. They play a critical role in optimizing services across the full technology stack where they distill opaque problems into actionable solutions.

We’re looking for a motivated engineer who is committed to cloud native principles. The right candidate will be able to drive Workday’s public cloud platform development, understand other teams’ needs for the platform, discuss and deliver solutions with architects and business partners. Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in SQL and/or MySQL
- 4+ years of experience with Python OR Pandas, OR ML libraries.
- Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years of proven experience
Other Qualifications:
- Experience with Performance, Load, Stress, and Scalability Testing with tools like Gatling, Jmeter, Loadrunner.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems, break them down into manageable components and design effective solutions.
- Proven ability to debug/administer Linux based operating systems.
- Experience with JProfiler, Jconsole or other system profiling tools.
- Experience with technologies used in modern distributed architectures: Kubernetes, Service Meshes, Circuit Breakers etc.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative team player.
- Experience in Object Oriented principles and design patterns.
- Experience with large volumes of data, quickly triage scalability, capacity and performance issues.
- Capacity estimating, data mining, modelling, or planning.
Workday Pay Transparency Statement
The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.

Primary Location Base Pay Range: $165,600 USD - $248,400 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $140,600 USD - $248,400 USD
