We are currently seeking a Managing Director - Sustainability Solutions to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts (US-MA), United States (US).
Job Description:
NTT DATA is looking for a Managing Director of Sustainability Services and Business Development to play a crucial role in integrating sustainability across all services offered in the North America region, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards and regulations, and implementing initiatives that improve organizational sustainability performance.
The purpose of this leadership role is to create environmental impact and drive NTT DATA’s sustainability business in the region. The Managing Director will develop and implement the overall sustainability business strategy.
This position will oversee the business activities in the region, liaising with the commercial team and team in charge of project implementation. The position may require you to participate in events, speaking engagements, and active relationship management. The position needs experience in building and refining the go-to-market strategy, defining annual budgets, and being accountable for the business performance on sustainability. You will also work in close collaboration with the global Sustainability teams, global marketing, and implementation teams in other regions to develop new services/solutions and develop new opportunities.
Strategic leadership:
Drive NTT DATA’s business development in North America, in close collaboration with our global leadership team, by defining and implementing the local go-to-market strategy and ensuring NTT DATA has the resources and ability to deliver the environmental impact and commercial results.
Identify new market opportunities and drive expansion strategies to enhance NTT DATA’s market position.
Business Development and Growth:
Bring and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners, and industry leaders. Personally manage relations with key clients in the region.
Grow NTT DATA’s market presence in North America by driving and guiding the identification and creation of new business opportunities.
Ensure NTT DATA’s offering remains competitive and aligned with market trends and clients’ preferences. Design and rollout of regional marketing activities, negotiation and closure of deals with existing and new clients, and the coordination of deliverables with the implementation teams.
Team leadership and Development:
Develop and inspire the North America team that works in sustainability consulting to ensure they deliver to their fullest potential.
Lead, mentor, and inspire the executive team and senior management, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Drive talent management initiatives, ensuring the recruitment, development, and retention of top talent across the organization.
Provide business guidance for regional marketing and implementation teams by providing input to target setting and performance evaluations.
Financial and Operational management:
Provide regular financial updates to the leadership, highlighting performance against key metrics.
Oversee operations across the commercial and consulting units, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality services and meeting clients’ satisfaction, and complying with industry regulations and company policies.
Qualifications and Experience:
10 plus years of commercial experience with 7 plus years of sales management experience.
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the sustainability industry, ideally as a Managing Director, or similar. Experience in working with senior leaders and delivery of large multi-year opportunities.
Knowledge, experience and/or qualifications in an ESG, sustainability, or related roles. Consulting experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate high-performing teams.
Strong strategic planning and business development and execution skills with a track record of successfully implementing go-to-market strategies, driving growth, and profitability.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead large, diverse multicultural teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
Knowledge of current industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Established network of contacts within the climate change and sustainability space.

Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $208,000 - 400,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
