StoneTurn is seeking a qualified Managing Director to join our Compliance Remediation and Monitoring team.
Job Summary
In this position you will be responsible for managing client engagements and contributing to the business development efforts for the Compliance Remediation and Monitoring practice. You will add value to our team by having previous experience as a compliance professional or an auditor with a strong understanding of the internal controls environment and internal control testing methodologies. This position requires you to be a person with strong interpersonal, communication, and technical accounting skills including knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, the COSO framework and SEC industry reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, plan and manage engagements within the regulatory compliance and monitorship environment with the expectation of periodically managing forensic accounting related investigations.
- Direct and perform compliance assessments and gap analyses and assessments and reporting of financial and operational controls analyses.
- Conduct client interviews and walkthroughs to identify risks, assess compliance programs and controls, and discuss findings related to the assessment of design and testing of operating effectiveness, including making recommendations and determining the best solutions.
- Manage the review and summarization of client documents, and third party financial and industry data.
- Lead and develop client deliverables including, but not limited to, research summaries, assessments of compliance programs and related reports and the presentation of findings.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively, ensuring quality control of client deliverables and client satisfaction.
- Integrate with all other StoneTurn practice areas to deliver coordinated services (for example managing forensic accounting investigations).
- Manage firm risks and client risks associated with engagements.
- Lead the research of emerging issues and identification of market-facing opportunities.
- Build, develop and maintain external client relationships, including attendance at business development events and networking initiatives.
- Lead engagement management administration, including billing and conflict checks and communications with clients.
- Foster a team-oriented environment through maintaining a positive and collaborative mindset.
- Mentor and develop Managers, Senior Consultants, and Consultants by providing timely performance feedback/training and conducting performance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA certification obtained (or in process of obtaining).
- 9+ years of experience within a compliance or auditing role.
- Excellent managerial, leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to structure and perform technical projects, lead highly functioning teams and manage client expectations and relationships.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
- Commitment to exemplary client service delivery.
- Network of relationships within law firms and corporate legal departments.
- Flexibility with potential travel requirements of client engagements (average 10 – 20%).
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience at a professional services firm; a combination of consulting experience and in-house experience within the regulatory and/or enforcement environment is preferred.
- Experience within financial services compliance industry including financial crime, or automotive, aerospace or railroad industry.
- Relationships within law firms and corporate legal departments with history of some direct revenue origination.
- Other professional designation(s) (CFE, CFF, CAMS).
