The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new opportunity for Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the President/CEO. The CFO will oversee all finance and accounting related functions for NAMIC, its subsidiaries NSC/NIA, and affiliated entities as required. This position will lead financial management in conjunction with the senior executive team and NAMIC Treasurer.
Essential functions include:
Directs and oversees the accounting and financial activities of NAMIC and affiliated entities, directs the preparation of current financial reports/forecasts and summaries, and supervises all department personnel.
Provides consolidated monthly financial reporting packages with eliminations including a thorough variance analysis.
Budget – Oversees annual budget process for NAMIC/affiliates, including review/reports of budgets with managers for completeness, justification, and accuracy. Presents all financial and accounting operations reports to the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Financial Management - studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on NAMIC; conducts profitability analysis by department/product/event; advises department on aspects of sources of revenue, control of costs, and profit enhancement; manages assets of the association for liquidity/risk/return expectations.
Internal Control/Compliance – Manages internal control system and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, or best practices as well as oversight of internal financial compliance systems for NAMIC, NAMIC PAC, payroll, and benefit trust programs as well as federal and state lobbying.
Treasury – Oversees treasury functions including cash management/investments and coordinates investment policy implementation for NAMIC and affiliated entities and manages bank relationships and accounts for NAMIC and affiliated entities.
Tax – Manages tax planning, compliance, reporting, and investigation for NAMIC and affiliated entities.
Audit – Manages independent audit process for NAMIC and affiliated entities as required.
Billing – Oversees billing/invoicing for NAMIC dues and all other programs and related affiliates invoicing. Also oversees all collection responsibilities.
Related Duties — Continually educates self on accounting and administration practices and issues; provides recommendations for improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications include:
Public accounting experience required.
CPA Certification and progressive work experience demonstrating strong understanding of statement analysis, account budgeting, and forecasting. Minimum 7 years of experience.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office and PC-based accounting software.
Treasury function management experience or knowledge.
Membership in AICPA and/or Indiana CPA Society preferred, CAE designation a plus.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background and MVR check.
