Associate General Counsel – Renewable Energy Finance
The Huntington Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney to support Huntington’s growing Renewable Energy Finance (REF) team. REF operates nationwide and provides financing solutions for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, including solar, wind and battery storage.
Job Description
- Serve as a trusted advisor to REF leadership, helping REF implement its strategic initiatives;
- Support and advise the REF team on new and existing renewable energy finance transactions;
- Perform diligence and provide guidance regarding transaction documents to effectively manage risk and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and Huntington policies;
- Work effectively with external counsel to close and manage transactions;
- Collaborate with REF, Credit, Operations, Asset Management, Tax and other internal teams to improve processes for evaluation, closing and management of transactions;
- Conduct analysis of, and provide advice regarding risks arising from, new products and transactions structures;
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups;
- Work in partnership with other members of the Huntington Asset Finance legal team to establish best practices across all Huntington Asset Finance businesses.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and JD required.
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
- 6+ years of transactional experience in the renewable energy space and/or experience as a project finance attorney at a law firm or financial institution.
- Knowledge documenting and negotiating renewable energy transactions and related financing and project documents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with sale-leaseback transactions.
- Experience with EPC, O&M, PPA, and other project documents.
- Proficient in handling a large number of issues and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand business needs and partner with key stakeholders to create solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels.
Exempt Status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay)
