The Azure Storage team is seeking a talented Principal Software Engineering Manager responsible for leading geographically distributed teams responsible for infrastructure that supports Azure Storage.
We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineering Manager - Azure Storage for the Azure Storage team. It is a foundational service in the Azure Cloud which powers key storage services: Blob Storage, Disk Storage, Data Lake Storage, File Storage, Table Storage (NoSQL Key Value store), and Queue Storage. These services host data from some of the largest companies in the world and support all of Microsoft’s largest online businesses including OneDrive, Xbox, Office365, and Bing while scaling to store many exabytes of customer data.

Responsibilities
- Lead geographically distributed teams of talented software engineers building infrastructure services.
- Be a highly technical engineering manager who contributes to code reviews and technical designs.
- Recruit new talent and grow existing talent while building a diverse and inclusive team.
- Drive engineering initiatives, collaborate across teams and stakeholders.
- Define organizational/technical strategy as well as objectives and key results (OKRs).
- Be motivated to make an impact, eager to learn and grow, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, and enjoy creative thinking.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on technical management.
- 3+ years of experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.
