Job Summary:
This role will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating and providing advice to our brands on franchise sales and renewals, addenda to existing agreements, ongoing rights and obligations under agreements, and day-to-day counseling to the business clients. This role will work closely with the shared service departments that support the Realogy Franchise Group franchised brands, such as the Franchise Sales, Contract Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and negotiating franchise documents to help the business attain growth and retention goals.
- Providing expert advice to the company on laws, rules and regulations affecting the business.
- Consulting on ways to achieve business objectives while minimizing risk.
- Partnering with the business on key strategic initiatives.
- Proactively identifying and communicating potential issues early on.
- Thought leadership on continuous process improvement opportunities.
- Relentless focus on reinforcing the best interests of the company.
Minimum Qualifications:
- JD Degree from an accredited law school.
- Minimum of 10-12 years of legal experience, at least 5 years of franchise law experience.
- In-house legal experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and interact well with all staff and all levels of management.
- Strong understanding of workflow processes.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Thorough understanding of franchise laws and regulations.
- Consultative approach to supporting business objectives while mitigating risk.
- High degree of integrity, respect and commitment to the company’s values.
- Positive, “can do” attitude.
