The core function of the Senior Cost Accounting role will be maintaining responsibility for cost accounting related to inventory and cost of goods, as well as supporting accurate inventory accounting within NetSuite and timely monthly reporting.
The ideal candidate will be bringing prior manufacturing experience, and will have a strong understanding of average/actual/standard cost, FIFO, inventory cycle counts, and variance accounting. He/she may have regulatory compliance background.
Key to success in this role are a financial 'business partner' mindset, an ability to work effectively both collaboratively and as an individual contributor, detail orientation, communication, consistency, diligence, and follow-through.
Responsibilities
- Review inventory receipts and issuing of material for accurate information.
- Ensure Sales Orders are created timely based on the Pipeline and the correct finished goods are assigned to the orders.
- Maintain BRBI reporting for accurate revenue reconciliation as well as maintaining all revenue records and support for each patient.
- Work closely with Germany location to ensure the correct inventory is on hand within the system.
- Inter company transactions for both US and GmbH.
- Monthly Cycle Counts.
- Monthly Review of the Inventory Reserve.
- Monthly review of Obsolete inventory.
Operations
- Work closely with operations team to ensure inventory and costs are accounted for accurately.
- Work closely on status of inventory, write offs, and reserves.
- Work closely to ensure the correct costs are maintained in the system.
- Work closely to help develop a process for credit card receipts of inventory.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for inventory accounts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
- Prepare inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis.
- Assist in preparation and review of flux analysis such as cost analysis, balance sheets, income statements and other related reports. Assist in investigate/resolve variances.
- Research and reconcile all discrepancies in inventory.
- Follow documented internal controls; other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
- 5+ years' cost accounting in a manufacturing environment required; regulatory compliance background preferred.
- Inventory cost accounting background, including FIFO.
- Variance accounting background with strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Excellent communication skills. (verbal, written and listening)
- Superior analytical skills with strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines and tasks to completion with minimal supervision.
- Bright, articulate, team player, with a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, capable of handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- NetSuite ERP experience preferred.
