Purpose of the Position:
Directing Area Sales efforts to maximize both volume and contribution levels and providing pricing policy and guidelines to assist in achieving the goals of the company. Consciously establishes a culture that encourages customer focus, individual development, efficiency, collaboration, and creates an environment for process improvements. Upholds and ensures that all Hapag-Lloyd policies and procedures are followed and maintained.
Essential Functions:
- Create strong relationships with key client stakeholders at senior management level.
- Work closely with colleagues on cross-territory opportunities and other internal teams on marketing materials and case studies.
- Understand the competitive landscape and market trends.
- Determine strategic approach to ensure the delivery of annual targets of export, import, and non-US related business for the territory customer base.
- Maintain sales staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, as well as counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.com.
- Desire to own projects and exceed expectations, with ability to find solutions and deliver results within a rapidly changing, entrepreneurial, technology-driven culture.
- Ability to identify and solve client issues strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and cross-functional teams, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Generate and maintain accurate Account and Opportunity plans.
- Work with internal teams on behalf of clients to ensure the highest level of customer service.
- Develop competitive rate and service contract offers to clients in consultation with Trade Management within the guidelines of the company.
- Monitor Area bookings versus allocation and budget.
- Execute special projects as assigned by Area Management.
- Participate in various Hapag-Lloyd working groups, business processes, and any areas as requested by Senior management.
- Maintain communication with local managers, providing and disseminating updated information regarding Hapag-Lloyd policies and procedures.
- Work closely with other area Directors on process improvement and communication flow.
- Coach and develop individual department managers and staff; have regular performance reviews in line with company’s policy and management requirements.
- Provide guidance, inspiration, and motivation when achieving goals.
- Ascertain that the workload is balanced amongst the various disciplines within each department.
Minimum Qualifications:
University degree, with an advanced degree preferred. 7 – 10 years of Sales experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven track record of establishing long-lasting relationships with large size organizations (Fortune 500 companies).
