Purpose
We are currently seeking qualified and highly motivated individual for the position of Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Midwest region reporting to the Head of US Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Global Rare Disease Unit.
The territory is MI, IN, KY, IL, MO, WI, IA, MN, KS, NE, SD, ND (would consider also anyone living in Co or WY).
This position is remotely based.
Maintain business and clinical knowledge of the Rare Disease treatment landscape including current treatment strategies, current and pending competitors, and new therapeutic developments. Increase Chiesi's visibility among leaders in the Rare Diseases field, identifying, establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with key experts, investigators and institutions strategic to product development.
Main Responsibilities
- Participate in HCP medical education through presentations at office visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, medical meetings and other venues to enhance product and disease knowledge.
- Develop, maintain and enhance existing scientific collaboration and exchanges with key opinion leaders and the medical community.
- Provide effective clinical presentations, tailored to the needs of the internal and external audiences.
- Facilitate access to educational grant request process and facilitate Investigator-initiated Program activity alignment with Rare Diseases areas of scientific interest.
- Collaborate and coordinate with other field roles to identify local/regional educational gaps/needs and appropriate field medical support while maintaining full compliance with relevant requirements.
- Attend appropriate scientific meetings, conduct routine information searches and provide ongoing disease and product training to internal and field personnel.
- Communicate clinical insights on new data to the company Medical Affairs and to inform medical strategy for the therapeutic area.
- Develop an understanding of the regional landscape including specialties involved in care of patients.
- Generate tactical regional plans to provide needs based, value-added support of the medical and scientific community in-line with company goals.
- Uses systems to strategically map, identify, profile and prioritize thought leaders in line with the medical plan and goals.
- Maintain accurate reporting and documentation of MSL activities.
Experience Required
- 3+ years related Field Medical experience.
- Knowledge and experience in field medical Rare Diseases and recent experience in launching a Rare Diseases product in the US is preferred.
- Possess a solid understanding of the US healthcare system and clinical decision making.
- Proven ability to interact with external medical stakeholders.
- Able to interpret and translate scientific data for educational and research purposes.
- Able to meet educational and research needs through delivery of scientific and evidence-based data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong team, planning, communication, and organizational skills.
- Exhibits high motivation and high energy level, self-starter.
- Ability to work independently and adjust effectively to work within new processes or requirements.
- Sets high standard of performance for self and others; able to multitask and prioritize; performance-driven.
- Must be willing and able to travel (60% or greater).
- PharmD, MD, PhD, or other doctoral-level degree preferred.

- Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited university.
