What we are looking for:
The Director of CloudOps will play a pivotal role in overseeing the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of our multi-cloud infrastructure. This individual will lead a team of skilled professionals responsible for the day-to-day operations of our cloud-based systems - reliability, scalability, and security. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in cloud technologies, coupled with excellent leadership and strategic planning skills. What you’ll do:
- Strategic Planning: Expand and execute a comprehensive multi-cloud operations strategy aligned with the company's objectives, including capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Infrastructure Management: Lead the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery. Manage a secure and rigorous change control process around the infrastructure.
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team consisting of members focused on CloudOps, DevOps, and DataOps. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Automation and Optimization: Drive automation initiatives to streamline deployment processes, reduce manual intervention, and improve efficiency. Continuously optimize cloud resources to maximize performance while minimizing costs. Be an advocate for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Security and Compliance: Work with our Information Security team to align on and implement robust security measures and best practices to safeguard our cloud environments against cyber threats. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, SOC2, and HITRUST.
- Monitoring and Incident Response: Establish proactive monitoring systems and protocols to detect and address issues promptly. Lead incident response efforts, conduct post-incident analysis, and implement preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with cloud service providers, evaluate new technologies and services, and negotiate contracts to meet the company's evolving needs.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including Engineering and Product Management, to support the development and deployment of new features and products.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the key responsibilities of the job.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in cloud operations, infrastructure management, or related roles with at least five (5) years of people leadership experience.
- Proven experience with more than 1 cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Proven excellence in maintaining multiple critical highly available, large scale environments.
- Experience as an incident response coordinator.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset towards identifying and resolving issues.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
- Expertise in automation, scripting, and configuration management tools.
- Deep understanding of cloud security best practices, network architecture, and data protection principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications for Solutions or Cloud Architect, a plus.
