Our Integrated Behavioral Health team provides direct psychiatric care, evaluation, and psychopharmacology treatment to Health Center patients. At PCHC, the Psychiatrist is a member of the clinical practice team and works collaboratively with other team members in providing patient care. Overview of Psychiatrist Opportunity:
Provide direct psychiatric care, evaluation, and psychopharmacology treatment to Health Center patients as well as provide psychiatric consultation with medical providers, mental/behavioral health clinicians, case managers, and other employees specified by assigned supervisor. The Psychiatrist is a member of the clinical practice team and works collaboratively with other team members in providing patient care. As part of the team-based approach to care, the Psychiatrist will participate in coordinating care for individual patients, will support patients and families in self-management, through evidenced-based approaches as may be appropriate, will engage in health center projects that are aimed at specific patient population needs, and will utilize effective and appropriate communication strategies, such as health literacy approaches when working with patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite psychiatric services including evaluation, treatment, and medication management to patients.
- Provide onsite psychiatric consultation/back-up for the health center’s medical providers, nurses, and mid-level medical providers.
- Confer with Psychotherapists on an as needed basis, regarding mental/behavioral health issues of patients via documentation in the client’s record, face to face or telephonic processes.
- Actively participate in Quality improvement activities of the Department with regard to peer review, procedures and processes.
- Complete all required documentation in a timely fashion including: written documentation in electronic health record, and all other forms and documents as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies.
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bicultural (Spanish) skills and Bilingual experiences strongly valued.
- Commitment to the mission of PCHC.
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.
- Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with the health care team, providers as well as management staff.
Education / Licensure / Experience:
- Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry.
- Active unrestricted license to practice medicine within Rhode Island.
