Description
The Director of Business Development is a pivotal role responsible for leading the company's expansion in the federal contracting market. Reporting directly to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) or Chief Executive Officer (CEO), this position is tasked with developing and executing a business development strategy that aligns with the company's growth objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of federal procurement processes, have a strong track record of securing federal contracts, and demonstrate exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills.

Business Development Director Job Responsibilities
- Identifies and develops new business opportunities.
- Builds relationships with customers, partners, and vendors.
- Manages key client relationships and works to build new ones.
- Expands the profile and reach of the company and its brand.
- Leads sales, marketing, customer-service, and client relationship management teams.
- Develops and strengthens internal and external relationships that will lead to increased lead generation and market share.
- Tracks emerging markets and trends.
- Provides Business Development training to company employees.
- Proposes and develops strategic partnerships.
- Helps to shape the company’s long-term objectives and determine plans for how to meet them.
- Researches and identifies new markets.
- Maintains the company’s business development pipeline.
- Identifies conferences, trade shows, and sponsorship opportunities.
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors.
- Conducts webinars and presentations to raise the brand or product profile.
- Travels to vendor locations, distribution centers, and other locations.
- Helps direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
- 5-10 years’ sales or marketing experience.
- 3-5 years’ supervisory or management experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in business development, with a minimum of 2 years dedicated to the federal contracting sector.

- The salary for this position is $100,000 - $180,000 annually.
