In addition to a robust E-commerce business and a strong wholesale presence, Rhone currently has 15 retail stores across the U.S., all of which are used for building community through various initiatives such as the brand's signature Mind & Muscle events.
About the role:
The Director, Retail Stores oversees the overall operation and performance of retail stores within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to increase sales, improve customer satisfaction, and ensure operational efficiency. The Director, Retail Stores works closely with store managers, district managers, and other key stakeholders to achieve business objectives and drive growth.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee and lead retail stores to ensure they meet and exceed their financial goals and KPIs.
- Create and implement business strategies to attract new customers, drive traffic to the stores, and increase profitability.
- Embody the brand, including our culture and values during internal and external events.
- Liaise with Retail Marketing and Brand Marketing teams to create in-store activations that showcase the brand personality and drive traffic to the stores.
- Work directly with senior leadership across all channels to impact and influence retail business direction and objectives.
- Ensure all store team members deliver an exceptional customer experience that is in line with the Rhone mission, vision, and values.
- Be knowledgeable of local markets and business environment trends to include competitors’ business activities.
- Escalate business trends, learnings, opportunities, and actions to VP of Retail on a regular basis.
- Analyze, interpret & apply data (both internal measures & external trends) to identify key issues and create solutions to maximize the brand’s business.
- Partner with the Director, Retail Operations, and finance team to manage payroll, identifying opportunities to maximize sales, traffic flow, and floor coverage through effective scheduling and reporting.
- Evaluate recognition and incentive programs, and make recommendations as needed.
- Hire and develop a strong team of District Managers to drive the business and support all retail activity and initiatives.
- Staff and support new store openings to successfully launch in new markets.
- Support training of store teams to be product knowledge experts, ensuring they can speak to the features and benefits of all Rhone products.
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, and VM teams to ensure store assortments and allocations support financial targets.
- Ensure store merchandising efforts drive optimal performance while aligning with the Brand’s vision.
- Conduct regular store visits to gather feedback, assess current business practices and make improvements that drive results.
- Support the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of employees who are passionate about pursuing progress in their own lives.
- Work with VP, People and Culture to implement training materials, policies, procedures, and programs to ensure employee growth, development, and compliance.
- Protect our assets by adhering to all loss prevention and operational policies & procedures; Develop new policies in partnership with the Director, Retail Operations, and VP of People and Culture as needed to address ongoing needs of the business.
- Foster day-to-day operational excellence mindset in Retail stores and build community amongst teams.
- Support diversity, encourage dialogue, and welcome diverse points of view.
What you’ll bring:
- 2+ years managing 2 or more Districts, ideally 20+ locations.
- Experienced and knowledgeable in the nuance of managing different geographic territories across the USA.
- Computer literate with capability in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and related business and communication tools.
- Strong understanding of Retail and Operational excellence.
- Ability to recruit and hire critical roles.
- Ability to critically assess and coach performance to improve and optimize store output.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working independently in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Ability to travel extensively, flexible scheduling, and work weekends when necessary.
