Behavioral Health Nurse Director
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and creative Behavioral Health Nurse Director for our Hospital Nursing Unit in Chicago, IL. The Director oversees the administration, management, supervision, and development of mental health programs and delivery of behavioral health services. The Director provides and supervises mental health care services at the Nursing Center, including coordinating clinical programming, treatment planning, discharge planning, individual, group, and family therapy, and is responsible for providing clinical supervision. The Director evaluates patient care and assesses what is required by way of treatment; acts as a consultant for physicians and behavioral health care staff; delivers emergency and ongoing direct clinical service as needed; and evaluates patients when clinically indicated.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and participate in mechanisms that support the recruitment, retention, and ongoing education of clinical staff.
- Participate and coordinate compliance in surveys related to accreditation and licensure and acts as the accountable representative for the Clinical Department.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders and attend all required meetings.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives focusing on improving delivery of clinical care, treatment planning, and fidelity of group and individual treatment.
- Participate in case conferences for treatment planning, disposition determination, and discharge planning as requested.
- In conjunction with the Medical Director, provide administrative supervision and direction to clinical staff regarding documentation requirements, clinical pathways, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
- Ensure that 24/7 coverage is provided.
- Ensure that all Social Workers, Mental health professionals, and other staff within the clinical departments receive regular adequate and timely clinical supervision in accordance with professional standards.
- Manage all aspects of mental health clinical services including behavioral support, ongoing treatment, forensic evaluation, prevention of seclusion and restraint, family engagement, ensuring compliant psychosocial assessments, and compliance with outcome measures.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum (5) five years' experience in the behavioral health field with some of that experience in a hospital setting.
- Minimum (3) three years of leadership management experience with demonstrated leadership ability and skills in writing reports and working with statistical data required; preferably in a healthcare setting.
Education:
- BSN (preferred but not required).
