A law firm in Sarasota, FL is seeking an Intellectual Property Income Partner with significant experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work, especially in the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in biotech and pharma, with comprehensive expertise in patent prosecution and counseling. This role requires a superior academic record, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage complex intellectual property matters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage global patent prosecution efforts with a focus on life sciences and biotechnology.
- Provide expert legal opinions on patent-related issues, including validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
- Oversee all aspects of patent counseling, including drafting and negotiating licensing agreements and other IP contracts.
- Develop and implement strategic intellectual property portfolios for clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
- Advise clients on intellectual property strategy, risk management, and commercialization.
- Represent clients in intellectual property negotiations, disputes, and litigation.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, utilizing any portable business as an advantage.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support staff, providing guidance on complex IP issues and strategic planning.
- Stay informed on the latest trends and developments in intellectual property law and advancements in life sciences.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Florida.
- PhD in biological sciences preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a focus on life sciences and biotechnology.
- Demonstrated expertise in global patent prosecution, patent counseling, and licensing.
- Small amount of portable business is a plus.
Education:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) required.

Certifications:
