Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Environmental and Earth Systems (EES) practice. The EES practice comprises geologists, hydrogeologists, environmental engineers, and environmental scientists who contribute to a wide range of project types, including environmental site assessment and remediation, due diligence, watershed sciences, and environmental construction compliance and management. The EES practice supports a broad client base, including private sector, municipality, and public agency clients. In addition, EES works collaboratively with Rincon’s other practice areas including Environmental/Community Planning, Natural and Cultural Resources, Marine Services, and Sustainability and Climate Action, to identify, pursue, and implement high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects across several major market sectors.
As a Senior Project Manager with Rincon, your responsibilities will include managing technical work programs, client management, mentoring staff, expanding existing work programs and developing new business, and working collaboratively within EES and across service lines to support Rincon’s continued growth trajectory while being true to our culture. While this role may offer flexible work arrangements that can include a mix of in-office and remote work, our changing business needs will ultimately determine our level of remote-work flexibility. Additionally, to promote in-person collaboration and client teaming, we prioritize hiring those who reside within 50 miles of a Rincon office which currently includes: Monterey, San Jose, Oakland, and Sacramento. Please note, this position is listed for the City of San Jose but is also available at all the locations stated in this job description.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
People and Culture
- Grow, mentor, and lead EES staff in their career development
- Support with identifying staffing needs and recruiting efforts
Business Development and Client Service
- Identify new business opportunities and support business development pursuits
- Perform various business development and marketing functions that strategically support and grow the EES practice
- Manage clients and programs consistent with your technical expertise
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with clients and regulatory oversight agencies
- Participate in technical conferences and industry events to elevate Rincon’s visibility
- Practice client service excellence
Technical
- Design, evaluate, and implement site investigation and remediation strategies for soil, soil vapor, and groundwater
- Support watershed sciences and stormwater programs
- Develop and implement environmental construction compliance programs for projects within the transportation, water, energy/utility, and/or brownfield redevelopment markets
- Ensure production of high-quality technical reports and proposals with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and quality
- Manage projects with local, state, or federal agency oversight from concept to completion
- Prepare and manage budgets and schedules to meet client expectations
Group Management
- Coordinate closely with other senior company practitioners to ensure consistency in staff management and advancement, work implementation, marketing and client development, and consistency with company business goals and needs
- Support improvement of existing processes and workflows
This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
- Minimum BA/BS in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or another related field, advanced technical degree preferred
- At least 10 years of direct, relevant work experience in California
- Demonstrated experience in management and professional development of technical staff, and successful financial management on project, program, and office-wide scales
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and team building
- California PE or PG license
- OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training (current)
- Knowledge of current and emerging California policies and procedures with expertise in State and Regional Water Board(s) and DTSC directives and goals
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Detail-oriented, resourceful, strong time management skills, and innovative

The base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000-$150,000, plus benefits and bonus. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
