ESi's Civil Structural Practice Group is looking for a structural engineer with an established consulting practice in the Midwest region. This candidate should be an established, well-recognized expert in structural engineering. This individual is responsible for managing consultative engagements and/or investigations related to structural engineering, construction defects, and damage from natural hazards, preparing technical reports and presentations regarding the same, and marketing the company and self to obtain and/or maintain client base. Plans, manages, and coordinates activities for client projects to ensure that goals/objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or with the assistance of Staff Consultants or Staff Engineers:
- Prepares and reviews project proposals or plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
- Makes determination to accept or decline potential new projects based on all variables.
- Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgets.
- Prepares technical, project-related reports and drawings for clients as required.
- Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
- Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations and technical conference presentations. Perform marketing and business development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
- Mentors junior consultants in growth and development. Testifies in hearings or court proceedings (depositions and/or trials) on behalf of clients, as required.
Work Experience:
- Must be an established expert in structural engineering with 7+ years of experience in forensic consulting, industry, or performing large scale investigations, project management, as well as technical report writing and preparation.
Computer Skills:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
- Windows Operating System experience highly preferred.
- Intermediate skills in graphics programs, Internet browsers, and database programs.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or ability to obtain is strongly preferred.
