President - seeking experience with $10M-$20M businesses (less than 100 employees) that focus on building supplies for high-end commercial and residential builders.
Position Summary
The President will be responsible for the overall performance of the organization, through development and execution of strategic and tactical plans that advance the company’s mission and promote growth in revenue and profits. Currently, this is an $8M closely held-business.

Critical Selection Criteria
- Successful history of 10 years within a wholesale building supply industry.
- Ideally has specific experience with building supply fabricators, and high-end residential builders.
- At least five years’ experience in leadership positions with an emphasis in Business Development/Sales responsibilities.

Major Job Functions (%)
Growth Strategy Development (35%):
- Develop and implement a hands-on, comprehensive growth strategy for the company.
- Conduct market research to identify new builders and market segments for company products.
- Develop strategies for expansion into new geographic and product markets.
- Identify and evaluate acquisitions based on market potential and strategic fit.
- Plan and execute the addition of staff members to support growth initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
- Design and implement new processes or optimize existing ones to enhance operational efficiency and support growth objectives.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of growth strategies and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
Business and Market Development (30%):
- Direct all long-term business and market development activities to secure new business opportunities.
- Identify potential partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions to drive business expansion and market penetration.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Assess the competitive landscape and identify opportunities for differentiation and competitive advantage.
- Develop and implement action plans to lead the company into its next growth phase, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Continue to expand and deepen the company’s channel partnerships, exploring new distribution channels and sales opportunities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns and initiatives.
Hands-On Leadership and Operational Oversight (20%):
- Provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership to achieve annual sales, profitability, cash flow, and business development goals.
- Oversee daily operational activities with an emphasis on supply chain and product inventory, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in delivering products and services.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and adjust, as necessary.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure cost-effective, technically superior, and timely solutions to meet market and customer requirements.
- Actively engage with team members to create a culture that embraces professionalism, customer care, continuous improvement, and personal development.
Financial and Performance Reporting (10%):
- Prepare and present detailed financial analyses, cashflow, forecasts, and budgets to the CEO and Board Members.
- Establish and manage the annual budget, producing detailed annual sales, operations, and business development strategies and initiatives.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and take corrective actions as needed to achieve financial targets.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Business Management (5%):
- Represent the company with key customers, vendors, industry executives, governmental bodies, and civic organizations.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration with the Global Business Area Manager and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure the company complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
Immediate Challenges

Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with preferred in business or related field; MBA preferred; minimum of 10 years of building products experience.
- At least five years’ experience in General Management positions, preferably with P&L responsibilities for a company or business unit.
- Proven experience and emphasis in sales, marketing, and/or business development in the wholesale/retail building supply industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with building Suppliers, Fabricator, and Builders.
- Understands the overall business including selection of suppliers, supplier management, logistics, inventory, financial management, fabricators, builders, and end users.
- Exhibits confidence in self and others; inspires and motivates others to perform well; effectively influences actions and opinions of others; accepts feedback from others; gives appropriate recognition to others.
