Amazon.co.jp is seeking a results-driven and trusted Senior HRBP who serves as a strategic advisor and a key link between the human resources functions and the business units and functions to drive their successes and their people through development and implementation of both globally aligned and locally tailored HR strategies, working closely with fast growing and evolving client based mainly in Tokyo headquarters.
The Senior HRBP in this role will actively partner with business leaders and their leadership teams to understand their business and organizational goals, organizational challenges, and talent needs, develop and execute HR strategies, and implement HR solutions to support those objectives. Through such activities and communication with employees, the Senior HRBP should build a strong organizational culture as an influential business partner, in which each employee feels engaged, respected, included, empowered, and committed to the organization’s missions and successes.
The Senior HRBP in this role translates business priorities into HR strategies, balancing strategy with operational execution, rolling up sleeves for and utilizing data to drive decision making and deliver results. The Senior HRBP will work across functions and is accountable for coordinating and ensuring key initiatives and projects, including efforts for HR life cycles. The Senior HRBP will also partner with leaders to provide change leadership and management coaching, as well as designing and delivering management and employee training.
This role expects a demonstration of excellent communication skills, strategic and logical thinking and planning ability, strong business acumen, and eagerness to learn more, data-driven yet placing equal or more importance on anecdotes or qualitative evidence to do the right thing, and the agility to function in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
This role will own the same HR missions and goals together with HR Leaders and the manager, while expected to work proactively and independently with minimal support from the manager, and drive oneself toward realization of the client’s success.
About Japan Customer Fulfillment Solutions (JCFS):
The Senior HRBP in this role will take charge in part of JCFS functions as clients, that enhance the customer’s purchasing experience and innovative and scalable solutions that realize fast delivery, more selections, cost-efficient operations, and sustainable logistics across Japan and other countries. Primarily focused area of the client group includes multiple engineering and PM functions, namely robotics, automation, retrofit, packaging design, building and facility design, deployment of Material Handling Equipment and the related construction, site facility services, and design of sustainable business environment. To support the assigned JCFS functions, the Senior HRBP needs the ability to make accurate decisions as an HR professional through dialogue, presentation, document writing, data showcasing, and other written and verbal methods and occasions.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the full spectrum of HR life cycle including talent acquisition, HC controlling, performance review, talent management, organizational development, learning & development, total rewards, performance management, employee relations, and exit management, working with respective CoEs for the client organization with 200 to 250 employees in multiple functions and locations in Japan.
- Partner with senior management and HR CoE functions to develop and implement HR strategies, plans, and solutions that foster organizational and people effectiveness.
- Coach and advise business leaders and managers with regards to organization and people related agenda.
- Design and implement management mechanisms and processes based on data-driven recommendations and anecdotes.
- Handle and respond to daily inquiries from employees and managers either remotely or directly.
- Lead and mentor leaders and managers through the performance improvement processes.
- Prepare, facilitate and/or support HR related events and meetings such as Talent Reviews, MBO, Employee & Family gathering events, training/team-building sessions.
- Collaborate with other teams within the HR team and promote and deploy key initiatives.
- Address and respond to ambiguous and fast-paced people and organization issues by taking legally and ethically appropriate actions.
- Create a positive working environment that is comfortable to work in through collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders and team members.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Master Degree in Business, HR/Industrial Relations, or Leadership Development, or equivalent level of fundamental HR and Organization management knowledge is required.
- 10+ years of experience in an HR leadership role and/or generalist role with broad knowledge and experience in human resource management.
- Experience partnering with business leaders in a highly complex and dynamic business setting is required.
- Ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.
- Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analysis.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication, coaching, strategic thinking abilities, planning/project management skills, and presentation skills.
- Native level Japanese and business level English in both writing and speaking are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent narrative writing skills in both Japanese and English.
- Strong business and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analysis.
- Ability to deal with ambiguous situations in a fast-paced environment.
