Job Description
Wax Injector
Mission: Under general supervision, operate automatic and Leyden type wax injection machines following established safety and operating procedures to make wax patterns in accordance with quality standards. Ensure that documentation, tooling and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:30pm
Essential Job Functions:
- Set up and operate wax injection machines to make wax patterns conforming to visual and dimensional specification technique cards.
- Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment under general supervision.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of patterns per part grade levels. Use such measuring devices as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
- Work is subject to final inspection and check.
- Operate a wax extruding machine, fill and knock-out wax billets and alloy reclaimed wax. Use hand tools of various types.
- Adjust equipment to obtain optimum running condition.
- Disassemble tooling to visually check for tool damage such as burrs, nicks, cuts, scratches, gouges, metal fatigue, and cracks.
- Inspect own parts for surface distortion and imperfections such as flow lines, air traps, bubbles, cracks, breaks, sinks, excess flash, non-fill, and porous condition.
- Demonstrate good eye-hand coordination.
- Perform all other work deemed necessary to meet Plant goals.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Meet all production and quality standards. Follow set OPC's and QCP's.
- Correct patterns for surface distortion and imperfections such as flow lines, air traps, and bubbles, cracks, breaks, sinks, excess flash, non-fill, and porous condition.
- Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
- Must be able to interpret work instructions from technique cards.
- Access main computer system to find location of tools.
- Lift properly, use transport devices and get help on larger tools to bring tools to workstation.
- Using various hand tools, open and inspect tool.
- Using various hand tools, mount tool in wax injection machine.
- Set up machine for optimum operation.
- Run a few parts to ensure parts meet requirements.
- Verify all parameters on paperwork and set injection computer to run required lot.
- Return tool to proper storage location after cleaning.
Essential Equipment, Vehicles, Tools and/or Machinery used:
- A variety of Wax Injection Machines
- Lifting devices (Lift tables, Cranes, Lift trucks, etc.)
- Various hand tools (Pliers, Wrench, Wax surfacing hand tools, Scrapers and Knives, Measuring devices, Clippers, Scissors)
Other tasks and duties as assigned.
Training:
- Training is on the job and may be documented by Verbal, Written, or Practical Testing.
Qualifications:
- Experience and/or training are included in considerations.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Able to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
