Lead our team as our Director
As the face of the organization, the Director of Pierce Street Gateway is charged with carrying out the organization's vision and goals established in collaboration with the Board of Directors. This position is responsible for securing adequate funding to support Pierce Street Gateway in order to meet overall goals and objectives. With support from the Board and Committees, the Director will coordinate Pierce Street Gateway's activities. The Director will be responsible for all areas of development and management of Pierce Street Gateway, with the support of an engaged Board of Directors and Committee Structure. This position will be primarily remote with the exception of neighborhood meetings, and a limited number of other in-person meetings as directed by the Board. The Director will work approximately 25-30 hours per week. Some weekend and evening work will be required throughout the year.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Development
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors, ensure there are sufficient resources to support the goals and objectives of Pierce Street Gateway.
- Research and develop/apply for funding opportunities, including foundation/corporate grants, corporate and individual grants and sponsorships, and other funding options.
Communication
- Develop the content of Pierce Street Gateway communications and assure their timely distribution.
- Provide and staff a centralized phone number and email address for communication with the Board of Directors, neighbors, community members, and general inquiries.
- In collaboration with the Board member volunteer, provide ongoing administrative support for Pierce Street Gateway’s website and social media outlets.
- Maintain relationships with website volunteers and coordinate any needed updates.
- Develop and manage Pierce Street Gateway FaceBook page, LinkedIn page, and other social media platforms.
- Develop, manage, and maintain Pierce Street Gateway’s community engagement strategy.
- Attend networking and informational events.
- Establish strong relationships with neighbors, community partners, and City of Lynchburg leadership.
Finance
- Assist the Pierce Street Gateway Secretary/Treasurer with ensuring financial information is current and available for Pierce Street Gateway Committee/Board Meetings and any financial-related Pierce Street Gateway communication to funders, etc.
- Work with the Pierce Street Gateway Board of Directors to manage and develop the annual budget and ensure the accuracy of all financial reports.
- Work with the Pierce Street Secretary/Treasurer to ensure any needed information, including meeting minutes, are available to Board and community members.
Legal/Governance
- Maintain and file all required state and federal forms and reports.
- Ensure IRS-990 is completed by the Secretary/Treasurer, shared with Board leadership, and filed by the appropriate deadline.
- File “Annual Report” for the State of Virginia.
- Complete/maintain paperwork for appropriate Charitable Solicitation License.
Strategic Planning
- In collaboration with the Board of Directors and/or designated committee, ensure the organization has a current and relevant Strategic Plan/Direction to guide the annual duties and responsibilities of staff and committees.
Support to Pierce Street Board and Committees
- Provide leadership and support to the Board of Directors and committee chairs.
