The FMI General Manager position exists to manage and participate in all aspects of the operation of the Focus on the Family Retreat Center at a specified location. These operations include but are not limited to facility maintenance, security, housekeeping, local recruiting, food service and hospitality, financial performance, and Host Couple program. The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that every client experiences excellence in the areas of physical product, systems and processes, and hospitality. They will do so by being familiar with, training all staff, and championing the standards established for all retreat centers. As a co-leader of the Property Leadership Team with the State-Level Clinical Director, the General Manager will be jointly responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture that is consistent with the culture of Focus on the Family and other FMI locations. The General Manager is responsible for providing the necessary operational staff support and facility availability to accomplish the yield strategy within the budget constraints set forth in the annual operating plan. To be successful in this role, this person needs to fully understand the operations of the facility and programming, be passionate about building healthy teams, value high standards while holding themselves and their team accountable and be eager to do the work alongside his or her direct reports. This person is expected to maintain the healthy tension between aggressive ministry volume and financial results vs. clinical sound practices as determined by the State-Level Clinical Director and the FMI Clinical Director.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:- Participates as a member of the Retreat Center Leadership Team with the State-Level Clinical Director
- Is responsible for all the facets of the daily operation of the Retreat Center
- Maintains a high degree of housekeeping, hospitality, and facility excellence for guests
- Oversees and actively participates in Facility Maintenance for all assets and landscaping
- Oversees and actively participates in Housekeeping and the cleanliness of the property, including guest rooms and public areas
- Oversees and actively participates as the leader of the Hospitality Team in caring for and serving guests, creating menus, managing the grocery budget and vendor relationships, and ensuring the team is equipped to serve guests with excellence
- Oversees the Host Couple program by ensuring that Host Couples are trained according to the Host Couple Standards, providing daily support and encouragement, and creating regular opportunities for enrichment and fellowship among other Hosts, the clinical team, and other operations staff
- Is responsible for the Grant of Authority within guidelines for all expenses to maintain and operate the Retreat Center
- Is accountable for the financial results of the Retreat Center
- Shares responsibility with the State-Level Clinical Director for the culture of the location
- Works with the State-Level Clinical Director and HR Liaison to coordinate events for team building as outlined in the annual plan
- Works with the State-Level Clinical Director to lead weekly staff meetings and daily time of prayer
Other Duties/Responsibilities:- Performs other duties as assigned
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:- On-call and serves as primary point of contact for all urgent physical property and operational staff needs
- Leads a staff responsible for various functions
- High-level decision making with significant financial ramifications to both income and expense
- Communication of Strategy and Standards to the team members at their location
- Accountable for the execution of the Annual Plan and the Yield Management Strategy
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:- Expected to perform all duties performed by direct reports in Housekeeping, Hospitality, and Maintenance
- Some office work
- Stress associated with constantly changing priorities and demands
- Biannual travel for leadership gatherings required
- Additional travel for training and expansion purposes may be required

Knowledge/Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- 7-10 years of experience in Restaurant and/or Hotel environment with two years in supervision
- Experience with the Hope Restored program preferred
- In depth understanding of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
- Experience in creating and executing budget
- Experience in creating and executing strategy and an annual plan
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Salary Range: $70,720 to $81,448/yr
