CSuite Financial Partners has been retained by our client, a rapidly growing Plano, Texas based company specializing in financial, bookkeeping, payroll, tax, investment, business management, and consulting services, to place a Chief Knowledge Officer.
This role will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
This is a hybrid remote role, with 3 days per week required in the office.
We seek a highly skilled and experienced tax professional with an entrepreneurial spirit to serve as our Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) for US Business Tax. If you're a former associate partner or principal in a smaller firm with past Big 4 experience, this is a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on our rapidly growing company.
This leadership role blends hands-on technical mastery in complex US business taxation with visionary ownership of our business tax practice development. You'll have the autonomy to shape training programs, team development, and operational process improvement with the resources of a larger organization. You'll collaborate closely with our Bangalore and Udupi offices to ensure seamless client experiences, cultivate knowledge sharing, and stay abreast of the latest tax law developments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Client Service
- Serve as the in-house subject matter expert on US business taxation (forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 5471, 5472, 8865, 1041, partnerships/K-1s, non-profits, trusts, etc.).
- Prepare and review complex US business tax returns across a diverse client base.
- Build strong client relationships: directly engage with clients to address inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and proactively explore potential opportunities for added value.
Knowledge Management, Training, and Practice Development
- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs focusing on the full range of US business tax preparation for teams across all offices, shaping our firm's skill development roadmap.
- Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge repository for US business tax laws, regulations, and best practices, keeping it consistently updated.
- Mentor and coach team members at various levels; provide expertise, guidance, and support in a collaborative manner.
- Proactively identify and implement practice development initiatives to expand and optimize our business tax service offerings.
Process Improvement, Collaboration, and Efficiency
- Critically analyze and optimize tax preparation workflows for efficiency and accuracy, identifying potential areas for automation and scalable solutions.
- Actively partner with the Operations team to implement and refine processes across offices, ensuring efficiency as the practice grows.
- Collaborate closely with the Bangalore and Udupi offices to ensure seamless client service, facilitate knowledge sharing and align on US business tax best practices.
Leadership and Strategic Vision
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations on US business tax matters to firm leadership, influencing the direction of the practice.
- Proactively monitor evolving US tax regulations; propose training updates, recommend timely client communications, and forecast potential challenges and opportunities.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing across the entire tax team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in US tax services, with a significant focus on business taxation.
- Proven track record of successfully handling complex US business tax returns across diverse industries and client sizes.
- Demonstrable expertise in a broad range of business tax forms, including 1120, 1120S, 8865, partnerships/K-1s, non-profits, and trusts.
- Experience in training, coaching, and team leadership at various levels.
- CA, CPA, or EA strongly preferred.
- Advanced tax-related certifications or degrees are highly advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of US business tax laws, regulations, and all relevant forms.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, Drake).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passionate about sharing knowledge, developing talent, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
- Strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to see the 'big picture' and drive process improvements.
