We are currently seeking applicants for the role of eCommerce Director. This person will work with our Sales and Marketing Teams to lead and elevate our e-commerce performance. The Director of eCommerce will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive eCommerce strategy to drive online sales and enhance the customer experience across Brick & Click (B&C), Pure Play, Delivery retailers/services, and DTC. This role requires extensive experience with eCommerce platforms, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead a team to achieve ambitious growth targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- eCommerce Strategy Development: Develop and implement a robust eCommerce strategy across various platforms to drive sales and profitability. Identify growth opportunities and emerging trends to stay ahead of the competition.
- Platform Management: Oversee all aspects of the eCommerce sales channels, including product listings, advertising, pricing strategies, and inventory management. Optimize product visibility and rankings through effective SEO and PPC campaigns. Oversee DukeCannon.com operations, including content management, user experience, and technical support, to ensure website functionality and an engaging user experience.
- Operations: Oversee purchase orders (PO) and coordinate with Supply Chain to ensure timely fulfillment and delivery. Assist Supply Chain in the implementation of programs to support eCommerce growth, including logistics optimization; FTL, drop trailers, pallet ordering, GTIN ordering, etc.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of eCommerce professionals, including digital marketers and account managers. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Analyze eCommerce performance metrics, sales data, and customer behavior to identify opportunities for optimization. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights and recommendations. Forecast sales volume by channel on a monthly and annual basis using customer, syndicated, and proprietary data. Understand eCommerce consumer and segmentation.
- Business Planning: Develop long-term strategies and programs for the eCommerce channel according to organizational goals, profitability, retailer goals, and consumer/industry trends. Lead the annual business planning process for eCommerce by establishing plans to meet important goals. Develop and manage the eCommerce budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI. Monitor expenses and profitability to ensure financial targets are met.
- Pure Play and Delivery Customers: Deliver volume and share targets within the established budget of all Pure Play & Delivery customers (e.g., Amazon, Instacart, GoPuff). Lead account manager team and Key accounts field leadership to achieve goals. Develop business relationships with customer’s senior management by adding value through expertise and strategic partnerships.
- Partnerships: Work closely with marketing, product development, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and support for eCommerce initiatives. Manage external partnerships and vendor performance, including advertising agencies, business insights vendors, content consolidators, and content agencies (as needed). Responsible for discovery, vetting, and onboarding new partners to lead category execution.
- Promotion: Harmonize funding budgets (trade, consumer/shopper, and digital advertising) to maximize total return. Collaborate with Brand Marketing on digital content, including owned digital channels (website eCommerce/product locator), social media/social commerce, and cross-channel content mapping. Identify, recommend, and execute eCommerce media strategy across platforms (AMS, specific retailer media groups, Instacart, etc.). Allocate, execute, and maximize/measure ROI/ROAS on Digital Customer Marketing Budget. Develop and execute customer-specific digital shopper marketing programs. Define and report on KPIs for content and media effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in eCommerce management, with a focus on CPG industry.
- Proven track record of driving significant sales growth and achieving revenue targets.
- Strong knowledge of eCommerce platforms (e.g., Amazon, Shopify) and tools.
- Experience with SEO, PPC, and digital marketing strategies specific to eCommerce.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Excel).
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Experience with A/B, multivariate, and other forms of web testing.
- Deep knowledge of Amazon and DTC ecosystem, and proven competency and success in working with Retail Media Networks.
- Excitement about the eCommerce space, with a desire for continued learning and mastering of new strategies and technology.
- Strong strategic thinking and daily business management execution.
